Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Orbignano

Solitary and protected by cypresses and olive groves, the church of Santa Maria Assunta in Orbignano is maybe one of the most ancient buildings of the territory whose origins date back to the Barbarian age.

It is solitary but precious like the vast thirteenth and fourteenth century fragments of frescoes by the Pistoia school, a marble basso-rilievo by the Donatello school portraying the Madonna with Child, an oak wood statue dating back to the fourteenth century portraying the Madonna del Pruno and other artifacts which make the church a little casket of works of art.
